Now it’s set a Guinness World Record.Motor City-based filmmakers Marty Shea and Ian Bonner were notified this week that “The Owner” is now officially recognized by Guinness World Records for having the most directors of a film. The movie was made by 25 filmmakers from 13 countries. Working together via the Web to create a cohesive script, they filmed segments across the globe – including one done in Detroit — that were woven into a feature film about the international travels of a backpack that winds up in the hands of various people, each with their own interesting situations and dilemmas. Shea said today that he’s been in touch with the Guinness World Records people since 2010 and had to follow the intensive process of verifying the record to their satisfaction. The film premiered in May 25, 2012 — a date that was a nod to the 25 directors. “It’s been a rewarding process to make this film and work with people all over the world. To have something this official, it feels good,” said Shea.Shea and Bonner founded CollabFeature, the group behind the movie that now includes roughly 200 people from 40 countries. Its next collaborative film, “Train Station,” is set to be released late this year. There’s also a collaborative TV series in the works that’s searching for 1,000 filmmakers.In addition to the Guinness World Record, “The Owner” is also the winner of the 2012 German IPTV Award for most innovative platform.“The Owner” will be screened at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Boll Family YMCA in Detroit and on 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at Royal Oak’s Main Art Theatre.
